Getting the best from your door
Our doors are supplied with a full warranty against manufacturing defects. This warranty extends to the first retail purchaser only and does not cover splitting, cracking, warping and other moisture related problems. Doors are supplied unfinished and need to be fully treated with a suitable protective and decorative stain on installation.
Moisture can destroy a timber door! It is important that the right timber moisture content is maintained during storing on site and during preparation. All surfaces of the door must be treated with a moisture controlling protective surface coating immediately on unpacking otherwise timber components may swell, shrink or warp, leading to split panels or the joints being forced open. It is essential that protective finishing system is applied. The door will only perform if the recommended thickness of coating on all surfaces of the door, underneath locks, letterbox cut-outs, hinges and especially to the top and bottom edges as this is the end and more susceptible to moisture penetration. Please finish the door with coatings specifically formulated for the use with external doors. Lower specification stains and paints will shorten the life of your door.
It is also recommended that you fit a Weatherboard (Rainbar) to any external timber door, as this will keep water off the bottom edge of your door and add longevity to the life of your door.
